New Poll: Texas Voters Overwhelmingly Favor Action to Curb CCP’s Influence on U.S. Medical Technology and Boost U.S. Production to Protect Data Privacy
79% would be more likely to support a candidate who cracks down on Chinese medical companies operating in the U.S.
The Protecting America Initiative, a conservative nonprofit organization focused on safeguarding the nation from Communist China’s growing influence, released a new poll today showing Texans are alarmed by the nation’s growing reliance on Chinese-made medical devices and technology, and want leaders to act to address the issue. Two-thirds of likely general election voters (66%) say the United States is overly reliant on Chinese MedTech, with data privacy risks being top of mind for voters' concerns.
Key findings from the survey include:
79% of voters say they would be more likely to support a candidate who cracks down on Chinese medical companies operating in the U.S.
82% are concerned that Chinese medical companies operating in the U.S. could be compelled to comply with directives from the Chinese Communist Party, potentially transmitting data back to China.
75% expressed concern over the amount of imported advanced devices from China, such as MRI machines and surgical tools.
83% believe that advanced medical devices made by Chinese companies pose a risk to patient data privacy in U.S hospitals.
80% of Texans believe that reducing reliance on China is feasible.
57% support restricting federal funding for hospitals that rely on Chinese medical technology.
79% support limiting partnerships with companies that have ties to foreign governments.
64% would be more likely to vote for a candidate who supports restricting federal funding for hospitals using Chinese-made medical devices.

BACKGROUND:
In October, PAI launched the six-figure ad “Monitoring,” which aired on TV and digital in Washington, DC and highlighted the serious threat posed by Chinese-manufactured medical devices and the risk of sensitive U.S. patient data going straight to Beijing.
Later in October, PAI expanded the ad campaign highlighting the national security threat of Chinese-made medical devices to Florida.
The Protecting America Initiative released polling in November that found broad support for lawmakers who address U.S. dependence on Chinese medical devices.
