Ad Campaign Highlighting National Security Threat of Chinese-Made Medical Devices Expands to Florida
New Ad From Protecting America Initiative to Air on Digital Platforms Across Florida
The Protecting America Initiative (PAI) is launching a new ad in Florida highlighting the serious threat posed by Chinese-manufactured medical devices and the risk of sensitive U.S. patient data going straight to Beijing.
The 30-second spot, “Monitoring,” backed by a five-figure buy, will air on digital platforms in Florida over the next three weeks. The ad closes by stating: “Let’s get China out of our health care.”
Florida is a leader in efforts to push back against Chinese influence. Governor DeSantis previously signed legislation restricting CCP land purchases near critical infrastructure and prohibiting CCP-linked procurement. In June, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier issued subpoenas to companies suspected of selling devices that could send patient data to China.
A recent news investigation found that CCP-linked entities provided hardware for medical research funded by the Federal government at the National Institutes of Health.
Previous PAI polling from September found that 75% of Americans are concerned about importing Chinese medical devices, underscoring the widespread unease around data security and foreign control of health technologies.
TRANSCRIPT:
China wants our data. And now, they’re using our own hospitals to get it.
Not only is China monitoring our phones, but they’re using lifesaving medical technology from Chinese companies.
At check-ups, during surgery — Floridians are vulnerable to Chinese data mining… without ever knowing it.
President Trump’s already getting tough on China, but Florida Republicans can do more.
Let’s end the data breaches once and for all.
Let’s get China out of our health care.
BACKGROUND:
This latest campaign builds on a growing body of evidence showing China’s attempts to infiltrate American life through everyday technologies. A previous lawsuit alleged that baby monitors sold to U.S. families may have been transmitting information back to Beijing.
