New Poll: Kansas and Iowa Republicans Support Trump's Recent Defense Production Act Executive Order and Want Momentum Continued at the State Level
Kansas and Iowa GOP Primary Voters Would Be More Likely to Support a Legislator Who Votes to Protect American Agricultural Manufacturers
The Protecting America Initiative (PAI), a conservative nonprofit organization focused on safeguarding the nation from Communist China's growing influence, released a new poll today showing a majority of Republican primary voters in Kansas and Iowa back President Trump's recent executive order invoking the Defense Production Act to secure the U.S. food supply, and they are more likely to support state legislators who keep that momentum going.
GOP voters in both states are deeply alarmed by America's reliance on China for critical agricultural inputs and strongly support state-level action to protect domestic agricultural manufacturers. Polling also shows two-thirds of voters are more likely to support a candidate who voted to provide legal protections for American agricultural suppliers.
Voters see pending state legislation that offers legal protections to domestic agricultural manufacturers, like Iowa’s Senate File 394 and Kansas’ HB2476, as a direct continuation of President Trump’s efforts to protect America’s food supply from the CCP.
Key findings from the survey include:
Majorities of voters in both states support President Trump’s recent executive order invoking the DPA to ensure an adequate domestic supply of agricultural inputs, which the administration says are critical for national security and the U.S food supply.
63% in Kansas and 64% in Iowa agree that trial lawyers filing massive lawsuits against U.S. crop protectors are doing more to help China than they are to protect American families.
69% of Kansas and 64% of Iowa GOP primary voters say they would be more likely to support a candidate who voted to provide legal protections for American agricultural suppliers.
86% in Kansas and 88% in Iowa are concerned about the affordability of fresh fruits, vegetables, and other food products for their families.
89% in Kansas and 90% in Iowa are worried about the prospect of America having to import even more agricultural inputs from China in the future.
65% in Kansas and 66% in Iowa support state legislation offering legal protections to domestic agricultural manufacturers.
Close to 70% of voters recognize that banning or restricting U.S-made crop protection inputs doesn’t make our food safer; it just shifts production to China, where there are no safety standards at all.
Two-thirds of GOP primary voters in Iowa and Kansas say they would be more likely to support a candidate who voted to provide legal protections for American agricultural suppliers.
