PAI Launches New Ad Thanking Abbott and Republicans For Pushing Back Against CCP Infiltrating Healthcare

New Ad Backs Campaign Praising Governor Abbott, Texas Republicans for Fighting Back Against Chinese-Owned Medical Device Companies

Protecting America Initiative (PAI), a conservative nonprofit organization focused on safeguarding the nation from Communist China's growing influence, is launching a new digital ad in Texas this week, praising Governor Greg Abbott and Texas Republicans for taking aggressive action to purge Chinese technology from the state's healthcare system.

The ad, titled "Tip Of The Spear," follows a letter from a coalition of 53 Texas state legislators urging the state's Health and Human Services Commission to conduct a full audit of CCP-linked technology in hospital rooms. That letter built on Governor Abbott's earlier directive ordering the Texas HHSC and other state health agencies to immediately review and mitigate cybersecurity risks associated with Chinese-manufactured patient monitoring devices – devices that the FDA and CISA have warned contain built-in backdoors capable of transmitting patient vitals and private data to overseas servers.

TRANSCRIPT:

When China exploited the border crisis to threaten America,

Texas stood strong on the front lines.

Now China is using critical medical devices to infiltrate our health care system.

And once again, the Lone Star State is at the tip of the spear.

Governor Abbott and Texas Republicans are fighting to:

Restrict CCP-owned medical device companies,

Protect our healthcare from CCP influence,

And empower American companies instead of Chinese tech to keep us safe.

Thank Governor Abbott and Texas Republicans for defending us from China.

BACKGROUND:

  • The Protecting America Initiative has taken numerous steps to expose how Chinese-made medical device companies could leak the patient data of Americans to the CCP.

    • PAI launched an ad campaign thanking Florida AG James Uthmeier for taking action to crack down on illicit Chinese vapes, CCP-linked medtech companies, and other CCP threats to Floridians.

    • In December, PAI released an ad campaign “Do No Harm” in Florida and Texas, calling to get Chinese-made devices out of U.S. hospitals to safeguard the data privacy of American patients.

    • PAI rolled out a report detailing the threat that Chinese medical devices pose to American patients. In the report, PAI highlights how the healthcare sector faced more cyberthreats in 2024 than any other critical infrastructure industry, largely due to CCP influence.

    • PAI released a poll in November that found broad support amongst Texans for lawmakers who address U.S. dependence on Chinese medical devices.
